About

We are the Ogdens, and we are dreaming of a day when we can bring one more baby home.  In the broadway production of Les Miserables, the orphan Cosette dreams of a Castle on a Cloud where she has a loving mother and a safe forever home.  We want our home to be that Castle on a Cloud for a sweet child who needs a family.

Our adoption just got updated to Paperwork Complete by Jason Ogden

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to put out an update that we are really excited about. As most of you already know we have changed our program from Japan to domestic (within the United States). By doing this we had to restart much of the process and most of the paperwork.

Even though we had to restart much of the process, we are excited to announce that we are "paper ready." All of our paperwork is complete and we are ready for a birth mom and dad to choose our family.

We have raised/saved $30,000 and need about $15,000 more in order to be completely ready to bring this baby home. The estimated cost for this domestic adoption will be about $45,000. We do not know the exact number since we are working with an adoption consultant who is reaching out to numerous adoption agencies throughout the United States to help unite our family to this forthcoming baby. Each adoption agency has slightly different fees. Most of the information that we have seen has the total cost to adopt ranging in the $40,000 - $45,000 range (not including travel).

In order for us to bring this baby home we have to prove that we have the full amount. In the grand scheme of things we are actually really close thanks to all of you.

I wanted to say how thankful we all are for your continued support. I will keep you updated as we get more details.

Our adoption just got updated to Paperwork In Process by Jason Ogden

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to thank you all for your continued support. I wanted to put out a very brief update to let you know where we were in the process. We have decided to pursue a domestic adoption as opposed to international. For more details regarding this decision please read Pam's blog post here. In a nutshell, the cost for adopting from Japan was getting to be too high ($70,000) and the stay in country too long (2 trips with about 3 weeks in country for each trip). All of these rising costs and longer stays in country are basically a result of the US Department of the State making it more and more difficult to adopt internationally.

We have applied with and have been accepted to adopt through Faithful Adoption Consultants. This agency will be assisting us with adopting domestically and will connect us with adoption agencies who will in turn connect us with a birth mother who is looking for a forever family for her newborn child.

We are currently working on paperwork in hopes of being paper ready within the next month or so. Once paper ready, it literally can be any day that we get a phone call letting us know that a birth mother has chosen our family.

We are still raising money for this adoption. The cost to adopt domestically is about the same as international. At this time we have been told that the cost for this adoption can be up to $45,000. We will not know the exact amount until Faithful Adoption Consultant finds us an adoption agency with a birth mom who is ready to choose our family. Currently we have raised/saved about $30,000 and are continuing to work hard to raise/save more.

Again, we want to thank you so much for your support and we will keep you posted when we have updated information.

Update - March 26, 2018

Hi everyone,

We just wanted to send out a quick update for everyone in regards to the progress we have made towards the adoption. As you can imagine the numbers on here do not accurately reflect what we have left. These numbers do not reflect any cash donations or money that we have personally saved and put towards the adoption.

As of today we have about $21,000 left to save/raise (this does not include travel costs). Yes, what you are seeing is correct! We have almost raised/saved half of the adoption cost. You all are amazing and our family will be forever grateful for your prayers and financial support.

We have had some cash donations from you all that have been really helpful! Additionally we had a very large garage sale where many of you donated items for us to sell to help offset the cost for this adoption. At that garage sale we ended up making about $3,500!

We plan on having a couple of other garage sales with all of the items that were donated. We will be having one up in the Portland area this weekend and another one near Albany a few weeks later.

We have some other fundraisers planned for the months of May and June.

Lastly, my wife's book He Made Me Brave is due for preorders on Amazon around the first week of May. The book was written for several reasons...one of them being to help raise monies for the current adoption. Anyway, we would love for you to hear our story which will help give context as to why we are adopting again.

Thank you all again and I hope you all have a great Easter!

Jason & and family
