We are Trent and Kristin, and we have been married for nine years. Adoption has been on our hearts since our first year of marriage, and we are now starting our family. Why adoption? Simply put, we want to replicate the Gospel–to seek out and choose to love two kiddos, give them our name, be their family. This is what God did for us–we only know love because He first loved us (1 John 4:19). Thus, we want our lives to mirror His love and testify to what He has done by doing exactly what He did! Originally, we desired to adopt from Haiti, but we did not meet the criteria so we turned our sights to the DRC. Three years ago, we accepted a referral of two boys, 4-year-old "L" and 3-year-old "J", from the DRC and we were very excited to begin the process of bringing them home. However, a few months later, due to circumstances outside of our agency's control, we were told the boys were no longer adoptable. This news broke our hearts, but we trust God has a plan for the boys and for us. We still pray for L and J every day. They are a significant part of our story and they will always be close to our hearts. Since then, a new law passed in Haiti. They have changed the criteria so we now qualify! It is a blessed turn of events and we are excited the door has opened in Haiti. We made the large first financial steps in faith (home study, first installment of agency/international fees, immigration fees), but there is still a ways to go. God has aligned all of this so we firmly believe He will provide; we simply want to offer you the chance to join us in it! We welcome your prayers, encouragement, and support!
