AdoptTogether’s vision is of a world with a family for every child. We understand that adoption may not be the road for everyone, but that every single person can make a difference in the life of a child in need, which is why we are proud to partner with & support KidSave.
KidSave’s vision is a world where every child is nurtured from birth, where the loss of human potential due to neglect is absent, and where people everywhere care enough that all children, even those abandoned, grow up in stable, loving families.
1. Summer Miracles
Kidsave’s Summer Miracles Program gives families to older orphans from around the world ages 11-14 who have little chance to be adopted in their own countries through an orphan hosting program. Children who are available for adoption stay with host families for 4 to 5 weeks during the summer. While they are here, they learn about US culture, and experience life in an American family. Host families work with Kidsave staff and volunteers to find the children adoptive families. Since 1999, more than 1,750 children have participated in the program and over 80% of them have found permanent families as a result. To become a host, one simply has to fill out an inquiry form, complete an online orientation webinar, contact the local Kidsave Agency Partner, complete training and finally prepare for the child’s arrival. If you are interested in hosting an orphan for the summer contact us at SummerMiracles@kidsave.org. To find out more visit our website, http://www.kidsave.org/programs/orphan-hosting/.
2. Weekend Miracles
Kidsave’s Weekend Miracles program connects volunteer host families to older kids stuck in the US foster care system. Through weekends spent together, hosts get to know the kids, support them in their lives and introduce them to their networks. The goal is a lifelong, connected, caring relationship with at least one safe, stable adult for every child. This manifests into adoptions, guardianships and long-term mentoring relationships. Hosting is a great way to get to know older kids who have been in foster care for a long time and are in need of family. Kidsave’s weekend hosts make a one-year commitment to welcome a child into their homes at least two weekends a month. Monthly community events are held to introduce the kids to people interested in adoption and hosting. If you are interested in becoming a host, you can fill out a number of online forms and trainings, visit the Host Family Support Center and eventually find a match that could last a lifetime.
