We have BIG news, family!

We are adding to our family through adoption!

We are beyond excited and are doing everything we can to be prepared to welcome a beautiful new life into our home. As part of our adoption process, we have started a crowdfunding campaign, as we know that this process will not be possible without love and support from our community. It may surprise you to hear that adoption related costs can easily total up to $35,000 or more. This is why we have set a goal of $26,000 to help ease the financial burden that often overwhelms adoptive parents.

We hope that by inviting you into this process, you will see yourself as part of the community we hope to build around our child as he or she grows up. (We won't know the sex of our little one until we're matched!)

We'll be giving you updates along the way through Ashlee's personal blog: Expect the first blog update during the first week of April.

In the meantime, please be praying for us - and for our third baby and his/her parents. And please consider sharing our story as you feel led. (Here's the link to our video.) Love to you all!

Welcome Home, Journey! by Ashlee Eiland

To all friends, family members, and all who've supported us along this road -

It's with much joy and excitement that Delwin and I announce the arrival home of our newest family member, Ms. Journey Leola Ruth Eiland!! She was born on December 5, 2018, but we had the privilege of bringing her home yesterday, February 28th.

Journey was born weighing only 960 grams (a little over 2 pounds). As her nurses at our adoption agency told us yesterday - she's a miracle baby! She's currently weighing in a little over 8 lbs, 6 oz - still tiny for an almost three-month-old!

We knew that this road would come with twists and unexpected turns. On paper, we never should've known about Journey, given her tough medical start in her life. But her loving birth mother chose us off the Cradle website 11 days ago, and thus began an emotional and prayer-filled journey . . . to Journey. Oh, the power in remaining open and saying "yes!"

We honor Journey's birth mother. She's chosen not to want an open relationship with us at this time, and we honor that, too. Please continue to keep K (this is all we know of her name) in your prayers as she's just hours removed from a court-room setting where she surrendered her rights to parent. Pray for strength and peace. Pray that guilt and shame would have no power over her. Pray for her future and for her heart, that she'd feel empowered to fully claim what God has for her life and future. We love her from afar, and hope you'll continue lifting her with us. Perhaps one day, she'll want to know us. If that's ever the case, we've left our information - and a wide open door - for that to be possible.

Journey is the best gift we could've ever received. Brooklyn is in bed with me now as I snuggle her and she just asked: "Mom, why is Journey so cute?" She's really cute! (And she has dimples like Brooklyn, Myles and me! What a sweet and pleasant surprise!) We're going to spend the next few weeks and months getting to know her and having her get to know us, as the first month and a half of her life wwas spent at the NICU - and then at the Cradle's on-site nursery. Sweet girl needs to know us: our scents, our voices, etc. in order to bond well!

If you live close, we'd love to have you visit her when we feel she knows us well enough to distinguish between mama/daddy and other friends and visitors. If you live far away, be prepared for LOTS of cute pictures of her on social media. But we wanted all of you who've supported us - financially and through prayer - to be some of the first to see her. So here she is, our sweet Journey.

Thank you all for being with us. Thank you for loving us and for joining with us in saying "yes" to honoring women and birth mothers like Journey's first mama by cheering them on in their empowerment to choose to either parent or create an adoption plan - and in joining God in bringing the Kingdom here on earth by loving the babies and people He loves so very much.

What a joy and a privilege. Thank you, again, for all of your love and support!

With full hearts,

Ashlee, Delwin, Brooklyn, Myles & Journey
