Adoption Status

Child Identified

We have BIG news!

We are adopting a child!

We are beyond excited to welcome a beautiful new life into our home. As part of our adoption process, we have started a crowdfunding campaign. It may surprise you to hear that adoption related costs can easily total up to $35,000 or more. The average adoption cost between $35-55,000. This is why we have set a goal of $20,000 to help ease the financial burden that often overwhelms adoptive parents.

We hope that by inviting you into this process, you will see yourself as part of the community we hope to build around our child as he/she grows up. Here is a little more information behind our why for adoption:

Adoption holds a special place in my (Micah) heart for many reasons. In the late 80's my Father was called to a “family meeting” by my Grandmother; the woman who played a large role in my spiritual walk with God. My Father, thinking he was about to receive news of illness or death; was told he had a sister. My Father grew up the oldest of 3 boys. One biological brother and one adopted. My Grandmother at the age of 21 placed her daughter  for adoption. A decision I can only imagine was difficult but made out of love… and so the story of adoption was weaved into my family. From a young age, I felt called to adoption. Luckily I married a man who embraced it whole heartedly. You see the story of adoption is weaved into all of our lives. God gave up his one and only Son out of love (John 3:16). Jesus gave up something too. Out of love for you and I, he gave up his life (Romans 5:8), so we could be sons and daughters, heirs of the One True God (2 Corinthians 6:18). So here we are. We have actively prayed about this for two years and have heard yes but not yet. Then in the middle of a pandemic and a recession, God gives his yes and with joy and excitement we will abide! We invite you along on this journey. With transparency we hope you can share in all of our moments. If unable to help financially, we hope you will join us in prayer. Prayer for our future son or daughter and for their birth momma. But more importantly that through all of this, ultimately God is glorified!

We Matched! Baby Due 12/2/21!

Our adoption just got updated to Paperwork In Process by MICAH MARSHALL

Yesterday I received an email that we are active and we will start being presented with adoption cases!  Of course upon hearing this news, I cried, because that is what I do. I cry. I cried for a good 10 minutes and thanked God. They were tears of joy for God's faithfulness as this is something we've prayed about for years and honestly  a desire that God placed on my heart long ago, which has grown and now coming to fruition. So with that being said... we need prayer. Pray that we will hear the Holy Spirit ever so clearly. Pray for our child's health and safety. Pray for their birth parents, for peace in their decision. Pray for our family as we really embark in the roller coaster of adoption. We love you guys and cannot thank you enough for all your support! HERE WE GO!!!

In the waiting ...... by MICAH MARSHALL

We are still in the paperwork process. We completed our home study almost 1 month ago. Our home study provider was great and he made it very laid back and enjoyable! I didn’t know what to expect because in the adoption world you alway hear how anxious people are for this part, which I honestly attribute to God that he has calmed my nerves through this all. I think when we move in His will and not our own... anxiety doesn’t have a role to play because His will cannot be changed!

Now we are waiting .... DHS was behind (to give clearance that we have not had or currently did not have any cases open on us). After a few weeks our home study provider ended up having to call them and the report was done but they forgot to send it. Not shocking, but if I’m honest I could feel the anxiety of the wait creeping up. Now we are waiting on the report. The courts were closed during COVID and once they opened our provider has had multiple cases where short notice  the reports had to be done for the following day .... so ours though important but not mandatorily needing done tomorrow got put on hold... and there is that tinge of anxiety. So I’ve been reminding myself,  His will, His plan, His timing. This baby was ours before the beginning of time.  “Do not worry about tomorrow for today has enough trouble of it’s own”. “Do not be anxious about anything, but in EVERYTHING through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God which surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus”.
So here we are... in the waiting and likely not the last time to be “anxiously” waiting. So we need your prayers! Prayers to calm our anxious hearts and trust in Gods timing. We love you guys!

Adoption Profile Book Complete!!! by MICAH MARSHALL

Good Morning!

It is Friday 7/17 and we have made some headway!!! Our adoption profile book has been completed. An adoption profile book is what the birth mother, who is creating an adoption plan, will be shown when picking a family for her precious baby! In the profile book it talks about each one of us individually, our beliefs/values as a family, our home  and our community. It has pictures of all these things to try and give the birth mother an image of potentially who and where her child will be raised! Sooooo pray over this book and our words. That they will speak to the birth mother and know that she is loved and admired for making the decision to give her child a life! ALSO we scheduled our home study!!! This home study is of UTMOST importance because it is what qualifies or disqualifies us to be adoptive parents. That is August 5th. I am not anxious about it, but pray for us anyway! All the prayers!!! After our home study is complete... WE CAN GO ACTIVE!!!! Then its in God's hands! We love you guys and we cannot thank you enough for your love and support through this all!

Checking one box at a time...... by MICAH MARSHALL

Hey friends!!!

We are well underway with our paperwork which means we are one step closer to our child! We have more boxes on the "to do" list checked off than not, however we have a few very big things to complete on that list. We have all the photos and information filled our for our adoption profile book. This book is the first thing the birth mom will see and how she will potentially choose us as adoptive parents. We have posed and candid photos as well as information from silly little quirky things about us to more serious topics such as how we plan to raise our child, our beliefs, values, hope, goals, etc. Shout out to Heather Bullard Photography for capturing our lifestyle (which I may add is very uneventful)! Our home study should be complete within the next 2-3 weeks, once this is complete and our profile adoption book done then we can go ACTIVE! Active means our profile will be put out there for birth mom's who are deciding to make an adoption plan for their baby. On average a family is active for 4 months before matched and matched could mean the baby is coming to he/she will be here in 9 months. Soooo be praying for us! We know that God has a baby planned for this family already. Pray for him/her. Pray for their birth mom. For her comfort and peace with her choice because no matter how it may be perceived placing a child for adoption is always an act of love. Pray that we trust in God's timing and in His provision. We love you all and are grateful for the emotional and financial support you have shown! We cant thank you enough!!
