We are adopting!
More specifically, a 4 yr old girl from China!
We are excited, nervous & anxious and are doing everything we can to be prepared to welcome a beautiful little girl into our home. We have waited 15 years to pursue adoption as both Brian & I have had the desire to adopt from the beginning of our marriage. Addie & Mason are VERY excited to finally have another sibling and can't wait to meet her! Our plan was to wait until Addie & Mason could be actively involved in the adoption and now that Addie is 10 & Mason is 8, the timing seemed right!
We started the process in March 2017 and received a placement call on October 20th. This is much faster than the 1-2 years that we were expecting, so we are freaking out a bit at how fast things are moving! We have fallen in love with this little lady and cannot wait to meet her! We anticipate traveling within the next 3- 6 months to get her.
The Chinese adoption program is only for children with special needs. Our little lady has Osteogenesis Imperfecta (aka Brittle Bone Disease), and is currently wheelchair bound. We are hopeful that with therapy she will become mobile, but we anticipate lots of care needs in her future. We have great insurance and know that we can handle whatever may come, but also know that we cannot do this alone. Raising a child ALWAYS takes a village. The total cost of our adoption is ~$35,000 and we plan to reach this goal through a combination of our savings, a loan against our retirement account and personal fundraising. By donating through this site, your donation is 100% tax-deductible.
We hope that by inviting you into this process you will see yourself as part of the community we hope to build around our child as she grows up. Your support means the world to us! If you choose to show your support financially, that's great - we appreciate it so much, but please know that we value your friendships and love more than anything. We feel so blessed to have such great support systems around us - whether in Colorado, Minnesota, California or those friends around the world!
