is adopting a child from United States of America

Spencer and I have a heart for adoption and have wanted to add to our family in that way since before we were married. We both have loved the picture that the act of adoption shows in relation to the Gospel. We want our child to know that we chose them, that we love them unconditionally, and that we will provide for and protect them. We would be willing to put our lives on the line for them, just as we would with our biological children. The Lord does all of these same things for us; He loves us unconditionally, He provides and protects us, and He died on the cross so that we can have eternal life with Him.

Open adoption, which is the route that we are planning to go, is also a wonderful opportunity to step out into the mission-field, loving on a woman who is making an incredible and extremely difficult sacrifice. We get the profound opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus to her, reaching out in love, encouragement and support. What a wonderful, fertile place for the Gospel to prosper!

As we begin this process, some may wonder why we are choosing to go ahead at this point in time, rather than have more biological children. At some point we may have more biologically, but through both mental and physical health issues that have arisen prior to having Elinor and postpartum, we feel that God has used those diagnoses to show us that pursuing adoption now is His plan and His timing. We approach adding children to our family with open hands, knowing that it is His plan that He has ordained from the beginning of time, and that His ways are the best ways.
