Carrie Brown

is adopting a child from United States of America

Fabulous news! I’m so excited to finally tell everyone that I’m adopting a baby! It’s been a dream for many years and in the last year I’ve really felt the Lord telling me it was time.

Adoption will be a little different for me because I’m single. However I have friends and family gathered around me in support of this adventure. Financially and home wise I’m in a great place. I work for a nonprofit that is fully in support of what I’m doing and I have a flexible work schedule that will accommodate the ups and downs.

Through a beautiful gift I have helped raise two boys for the last 17 years. One came to me when he was 8 and one came when he was 4. They are grown and living their own adventures now. I’m so proud of them and excited that they too are looking forward to a new family member. We’ve all agreed that now is the time for a baby.

My current family at home includes two dogs, a cat and a hedgehog. Dixie, a sled dog mix, came home as a rescue dog I found running through the streets. Bear, a corgi, came home from my grandparents when they could no longer care for him. Kitty Kitty, a calico, came home when a friend moved out of Alaska and couldn’t take her. The smallest member is Pickles the hedgehog. He joined our family when his mom and dad moved and couldn't take him.

Life has been a flurry of activity to prepare for a new member of the family. Part of that activity is fundraising. Thus this fundraising page. I’ll keep it updated with milestones that are reached. The overall expense is $20,000. As of 4/26/2017 I have raised $4,364.

The expenses are outlined below and subject to change (always in an upward direction I'm sure.)

Workshop — Due January — Required before application - $420 - Paid

Phase I — Due 5/1/17 — Home study and formal application fee - $4,825 - Still saving.

Travel — Due 5/1/17 — Travel for coordinator to conduct the home study - $392

Phase II — Due 8/1/17 — Portfolio submission to be presented to the birth mothers - $2,592

Phase III — Due at time of match with birthparents — So exciting!!! - $3,709

Phase IV — This is due when the birthmother signs the relinquishment papers - $3,709

There are additional travel expenses for home visits and for attorney fees - $????

This is such an amazing time and it means a lot that you would stop by and take a moment to learn a little about me. Please note that all donations through this site are recognized by the IRS as charitable contributions.

Thank you so much for all that you do!

Carrie
