Many of you may not know that shortly after Henry was born, I (Amber) as diagnosed with cardiomyopathy. It is most likely due to having a pacemaker in combination with two pregnancies, which ultimately has weakened the left side of my heart. We have pursued various testing, medications and even surgery to help my heart function improve, but so far these things have not been successful. We are still praying and believing that God will perform a miracle and heal my heart, but in the meantime this decreased heart function means it would be way too risky to have any more biological babies. Jacob and I have always wanted 3-4 kids, so it’s been a tough season of grieving what we thought growing our family would look like. At the same time, we are, of course, beyond grateful for our two healthy sons. They are our greatest joy!
To be completely honest, Jacob has always been more interested in adoption than me. I was too intimidated by the entire thing. Over the last few years, as I have accepted that I cannot have any more biological children, God has slowly been opening my heart more and more to adoption. After much prayer, we’re now so excited and nervous to begin the process. The boys cannot wait to have a baby brother or sister!
We are currently on the waitlist for an amazing adoption agency based in South Carolina, Quiver Full Adoptions, and we are starting the home study process. One of the reasons we specifically chose Quiver Full is because their adoptions are much more affordable than the average domestic adoptions. However, it is still a large sum. Having just got out of debt, we are still working on building up our savings. I plan on adding a more detailed breakdown of the cost as I learn more, but the first fees we are expecting are $1500 for home study and $7500 to go active with our agency. They have told us to plan for $30,000.

We don't fully know what to expect with this process and your support means the world! I can say with certainty that I expect to be grown and stretched. It will be hard, but it will be worth it. If the past few years have taught us anything, it's that we can do hard things and nothing is impossible with God.
