I am in the process of adopting my 13 year old step-son. I do not consider him my step-son, I am his mom in every way that counts.
My husband and I have raised Jacob together since he was 5 years old and we have one son together who is 12. The boys are very close and we are blessed with how well they have always got along and been there for each other.
Jacob and I both fear that if something happened to my husband that Jacob would be ripped from the only home he knows as well as his brother and I. Dad does have a dangerous job and we just want to give him that security.
Jacob and I well the whole family, want nothing more for me to legally be his mom and have that worry taken away. He has called me mom since the second week he came home to live with us. It was never forced he chose that. I am the one who is at every meet the teacher night, all his games, every check up, helps with homework, etc. I am his mom in every way except legally.
There have been lots of bumps in the road with our adoption and it has cost a lot more than expected. However, it’s not possible to put a price on legally being able to adopt my son.
If you can help in any way it would be greatly appreciated. I just want what’s best for Jacob. I love him so much I can’t describe in words. He is my son, I just want to secure that so he never has to worry again. Thank you so much for your time and hearing our story. God bless.
