Lea Bradley

is adopting a child from United States of America

Most of you know that we brought home Peyton right after he was born in February. Immediately, we were over the moon with being chosen, so excited about what our futures would hold, and SO in love with this little boy. After years of painful struggles with infertility, all of that seemed no longer important when we held our boy in our arms.

But, let me tell you…it has it been an interesting 6 months. We have loved watching P grow and develop, and we have learned so much. Much more than we ever expected, actually. We knew adoption was not going to be easy, but we had NO IDEA what was ahead of us.

Without getting into the details, we've encountered some unexpected challenges with Peyton's adoption, and those challenges have required us to do some serious legal work. It's looking like we have a long road ahead of us before P’s future is determined. No matter what lies ahead, none of this is our sweet boy’s fault…he needs parents loving on him and fully devoted to him right now, so that’s what we are going to focus on, and that’s what we are going to give him. While we're not afraid to talk about the details (in fact, we feel like we have been called to share the realities of adoption), there's a lot that we're not able to share publicly. We so appreciate your understanding. And, yes, in case you are wondering, this is exactly why we are not posting pictures of Peyton’s sweet, adorable face on social media.

People are always asking how we are doing. To be honest, it’s very weird to be in a position where we have no control over the thing that matters most to us in this world. Everything is chaotic and constantly changing all around us. All we can do is make one decision, take one day, at a time…even with us being ones whose hearts and whose family is on the line. It’s absolutely trying our faith and is teaching us what it means to be truly anchored, firmly and securely, in our heavenly Hope. Despite the stress and anxiety, we know God is good. We know He is faithful, and powerful. We know we are not alone (even when we feel like we are). We know He loves this little boy more than we do, and that’s pretty hard to comprehend because we love our baby a whole lot! Knowing these truths reminds us that all we can do is move forward while trusting Him.

Everyone says it takes a village to raise a child. Well, friends, you are our village, and we need your help. Quite simply, we won’t be able to do this without our villages’ support, so here are two ways you can support us right now:

1- We’re going to be bold here even though it may not be comfortable - our biggest need right now is financial support. The legal fees are piling up quickly and there’s more coming at every step. We would so appreciate you considering giving any amount, even if it seems small. All donations made via this site are tax deductible as AdoptTogether is a nonprofit. What’s even better is that upon our request, our funds raised goes straight to our attorney, never touching our hands. That helps us out at tax time, too. Again, any donation will help us along this process! We are also hoping to be able to organize some fundraisers so stay tuned for those…please let us know if you’d like to help or have a fundraising idea of your own!

2- Pray! Pray hard & frequently for us! Specifically, our current prayer needs are :

-for our next court hearing on August 9th, that our lawyer be sharp and strategic as she prepares; for the judge to do what’s right and what’s best for our boy’s future

-for timely resolution

-for those on our side to remain on our side, fighting alongside us all the way

-for our hearts to remain confident in both our attorney and in our faith

-for our marriage to remain strong and for our communication with each other to remain consistent

-for our Peyton-Poo to know how loved, wanted, chosen, and special he is, even now

We love you all! We will keep you posted as things move along, we promise. Thank you in advance for being our village & for helping us through what has been the most wonderful, and yet somehow the most difficult, time of our lives.
