We are adopting a child!
Most people are not aware of this. After losing “our” foster baby a year ago, Ty and I grieved and continue to grieve. We also continue to leave that door open and hope and pray that situation rectifies itself. However, in January 2020 we interviewed and were accepted into a domestic infant adoption program. After being accepted, we have sat idle completing any of the profile information for multiple reasons. #1 we needed to wait until our foster license was no longer held by the local DSS which happened effective November 1, and #2 our family has continued to change this year where we welcomed cactus’ two older siblings into our life. We are now a family of 5–not yet a legal family- however, it seems to be heading that direction. While speaking with the kids, we have made a family decision that is time for us to continue forward with our infant adoption journey. We are longing to again experience those middle of the night rocking sessions, those innocent hugs, those first steps, and those first words!
We are beyond excited and are doing everything we can to be prepared to welcome a beautiful new life into our home. As part of our adoption process, we have started a crowdfunding campaign. It may surprise you to hear that adoption related costs can easily total up to $50,00 or more. This is why we have set a goal of $30,000 to help ease the financial burden that often overwhelms adoptive parents.
