Angie Ashe

is adopting a child from China

The Ashe Family is adopting again, and I would like to introduce you to Colin William Ashe. We will be headed to China this Fall to pick him up. By the time we get there, he will have just turned two. Supposedly, he's a trouble-maker so he will get along just fine with his crazy sister Fiona, and his more subdued sister Elliot will, of course, love having another sibling to watch Yo Gabba Gabba and jump on the trampoline with her.

Fiona has been begging us for a baby brother for years now. We finally started taking her seriously last year. Rob and I realized that we had room in our hearts for another child, and we knew that we wanted to find another child from China and another child with a physical disability. Colin actually has a little leg, just like his big sister Fiona. He will likely need a robot leg too. He will need some medical attention once he gets here, but his needs are all orthopedic. We are orthopedic pros at this point so we (and most importantly Children's Hospital Los Angeles) have got this.

We have had a few folks already ask for a way to donate to our adoption so we set up this account, just as we did with FIona's adoption. Adoption would be much easier on the wallet if we had more time to raise money, but oftentimes, you are asked for a large amount at once, which is a difficult feat. Any gift you can give us is greatly appreciated. The amount we are asking for is the amount we must pay now that we have found a child. It is called the Adoption Program Fee. Information about the adoption fees can be found here: http://www.holtinternational.org/adoption/fees.php

All donations are tax deductible.

We will be covering travel completely on our own since we will be going as a family of three. Fiona will be coming with us because she has no memory of China. We want her to experience the fun of going back to her country of birth. We also want to introduce her to Hong Kong Disneyland as we adjust to the time difference and get over our jet lag before meeting Colin. Elliot hates planes, taxis, shuttles, buses, any food that is not macaroni and cheese or pizza, her iPad running out of battery, hot weather, and more so she will be staying in California with Grandma and Grandpa and enjoying a quiet house for once.

Even if you can't donate, please find us on Facebook so you can follow along on our journey to bring home our son. There are so many awesome kiddos with disabilities out there who are in need of loving homes. Just as we were inspired by those who went before us, we hope to inspire others to adopt.

With much love, Angie, Rob, Elliot, and Fiona Ashe (and soon Colin)
