We are Daniel and Nicole Herr. We currently have 3 children, all of them are adopted. Adoption is not something that was really on our radar early on, but our first year of marriage Dan was diagnosed with cancer. Our one year anniversary was spent in the hospital while Dan underwent surgery to remove the main tumor. That was followed by 6 mo of chemotherapy. We were told when Dan was diagnosed that although the type of cancer he had was curable, the amount of chemotherapy needed to cure it was going to leave him sterile. So we began to re think how we were going to grow our family. We already had our oldest son that Dan had adopted through a step parent adoption, so adoption seemed like a natural choice for us to continue to grow our family. We wound up with our oldest daughter through a private domestic adoption in 2009. We could not have been more in love with that little girl!!! We knew pretty soon after that we were going to adopt again. We then found out that our daughter has some heart issues, so when we began to pursue another adoption we decided on special needs. We brought our youngest daughter home from China in 2013. We are now pursing number 4!! We have again decided on special needs. We have been so blessed by each one of our children and are excited to add a little brother to the mix!!
