Adoption has been a Christ-led calling for us both individually and as a couple. Growing up in a big family, MacKensie has always seen God's love best through children. And to be frank, I often see Christ's love best through watching her interact with children. But the truth is, this world is full of boys and girls who will never experience earthly love through family as we did. We were both fortunate to grow up with an abundance of privileges that many can only dream of: a loving family, a safe shelter, & food in our bellies. Because of this, we feel called to extend this love to a child who may otherwise go without. Everyday Andrew stands up in court as the district attorney reads off a child 's name and states, "The father of the child is unknown to the state" or "the child is in DFCS custody." In neighborhoods a few miles away, in states nearby, and in countries across the globe, children need loving parents. We aren't on a mission to save all children (though that would be awesome), but rather give a child, whomever God has selected for us, an opportunity to be loved as we are loved. Adoption for our family is a guarantee that we plan to devote everything to when the time comes. While we do not plan to adopt today, we do plan to do so within the next five years. We just want to extend the opportunity to you, our family, to be a part of it. This child will call us mommy & daddy, but his or her family will extend into the lives of all of you as well.
