We are Daniel and Corrie Barkdull, and we are an adoptive couple with Bethany Christian Services.
Last Friday night, we got a call about a baby girl that was born that morning, December 8th, 2017 and the birth mom selected us as her first choice. We learned that the baby would be ready for discharge in two days. We know that God is sovereign over the adoption process, and that this baby was ours to come get! When we arrived at the nurses station Sunday morning, we were greeted by about 8 nurses with huge grins on their faces. They had held and loved our baby for us, and we are so grateful for their care for our daughter until we could come get her. We named her Vivian, which means "full of life" as we see the beauty in God's gift of a new life to us, and how he brought her into our lives at just the right time.
My family and I are still grieving the passing of my dad, Al, who went to be with Jesus on 11/28/17, ten days before Vivian was born. His timing may seem slow and waiting is hard, but we see his timing as truly good and perfect!
Adoption is one of the greatest pictures of sacrificial love we can think of. Our birth mom is our hero, and we are grateful we were able to meet her the same day we met Vivian. She told us "I want my baby to have more than I can give her, so I want to choose adoption." Wow. God is writing a beautiful story for Vivian's life! Would you like to be a part of it? We have $10,120 remaining on our adoption. We have already received gifts for $1,500 and have put up $6,500 of our own. This is due by the end of the year, 12/31/17.
