is adopting a child from China

Many of you already know our story, but for those of you who don't, please allow us to explain how God has led us to adoption. We have never been able to have children together due to infertility issues. This was a very sad time for us, however we accepted that this was not the plan for our lives. We had discussed adoption briefly at that time, but I was not sure it was something I could do. Fast forward 10 years and here we are. In 2016, our lives changed forever with the loss of Bob's son, Alec. This was obviously a very difficult time for us. During that summer, a friend from work and her husband had been hosting 2 girls from Kyrgyzstan. I was inspired by following their summer on Facebook. She kept saying to me that Bob and I should consider hosting. There were two boys who were available for hosting that she kept nudging me towards. I felt for these boys but in my heart and mind, I just couldn't say yes. Several weeks later, I woke to a post from her on Facebook with a photo of a boy who desperately needed hosted, or he would be left behind that Christmas. I immediately knew I wanted to do this. I was not sure how it would all work out logistically, how we would pay for it, how I would get off work during those 4 weeks, etc. I didn't know, but God sure did. He made absolutely everything work out in less than 24 hours. We hosted Sasha and absolutely fell in love with him, and fell in love with the idea of adoption. I never knew I could love a child before ever meeting them, but God knew. We spent 4 glorious weeks with him during winter 2017, and another 6 weeks in the summer of 2017. We knew that his father was still in the picture, but we still were interested in adopting him if he became adoptable. We were not going to give up our hope until God gave us a "NO". Unfortunately we got that "NO" this past Christmas when we found out that he is back with his father. After struggling with the idea of maybe never seeing him again (although I know God has plans for us to meet up again some day), I finally felt at peace with where God was directing us. He has led us to a 7 year old boy in China, who is ready and waiting for a Mommy and Daddy to call his own. Again, we have fallen in love with someone we have not yet met! God knows our hearts and He knows how to lead us! We are holding another fundraiser, because the significant costs that we have already paid as well the remaining funds that we need to come up with within the next several months, far exceed what we have available. We truly believe that where God guides, He provides. Thank you all for supporting us on this incredible journey God has led us on. The emotional and financial support from our friends, family and those we have never met, has been extraordinary!
