is adopting a child from Malawi

We are adopting a child from Malawi!

And we cannot thank you enough for visiting our page (because this means you may actually be thinking about blessing this child with your gifts).

We are Charlene and Ben. We eat our vegetables. We go to bed on time. We appreciate good music. We love adventurous travels. We make each other laugh a lot. We cannot wait to give a child in need a loving family.

We have thought about adoption for some time now, and we know Malawi is the right choice for us. We ultimately chose this country because this past summer we traveled to Malawi to help build a secondary school and while we were in the country we were moved by the beautiful people who warmly welcomed us. We also witnessed many small children living in very poor conditions. We had already started talks of beginning a family, but we now knew our first child would be from Malawi. We know that we will be able to give a child in need a loving family, home, and community to support and help them grow.

We are beyond excited and are doing everything we can to be prepared to welcome a beautiful new life into our home. As part of our adoption process, we will be applying for grants, tax credits, fundraising, and we have also started a crowdfunding campaign. It may surprise you to hear that adoption related costs can easily total up to $35,000 or more. This is why we have set a goal of $28,000 to help ease the financial burden that often overwhelms adoptive parents.

We hope that by inviting you into this process, you will see yourself as part of the community we hope to build around our child as he/she grows up. All donations made to making an immeasurable difference in this child's life are tax deductible.
