We have BIG news!
We are in the midst of adopting our 5th child.
When the Lord quite literally swung open the doors of our hearts and poured His affection, ache and love for the orphan into it, it moved us to a place of intimacy with Him that we hadn’t been before. I can hardly think about it without tearing up every time. It is a journey we began in 2009 with our first adoption, and it has continued—right up until August 7 of this past summer where we finalized adoption of three more children.
God isn't through with us yet!!!!
We are beyond excited and are doing everything we can to meet the needs of welcoming Max into our hearts and home. On October 18, a precious baby boy was born seven weeks premature in Tampa, Florida. On Sunday, October 20, his amazingly strong and courageous birth mom chose us to be his forever family. So we packed the entire family up and headed south to meet this little man. He is now approaching four weeks in the NICU. We patiently await the discharge of this sweet little angel. He is learning to drink and breathe on his own and that takes time. Jon has returned to Georgia with the other five children and Kathy remains in Florida at the hospital with Max. As part of our adoption process, we have started a crowdfunding campaign. It may surprise you to hear that adoption related costs can easily total up to $40,000 or more. This is why we have set a goal of $30,000 to help ease the financial burden that often overwhelms adoptive parents.
We hope that by inviting you into this process, you will see yourself as part of the community we hope to build around our child as he grows up. We are grateful for the opportunity to share our family's call to "love the least of these" and to be the salt and light!
