While dating and eventually marrying, we have often dreamt of becoming parents. We did not envision that this particular path, fraught with heartache and difficult emotional challenges, is what God had in store for us. When we made the decision for my wife to undergo a procedure to end her constant pain and suffering, our adoption journey began.
The public adoption agencies in our area have waitlists with no foreseeable light at the end of the tunnel. Private adoptions are incredibly expensive, and while we are financially stable and settled into our mental health and law enforcement/correctons careers, we simply do not have the means to pay all of exorbitant upfront and ongoing fees required to adopt children.
