Adoption is something we talked about before we married… "Would we be open to adoption?" Since then, the answer was "yes" we were open to the idea, but it was more theoretical in the back of our minds. Three biological children later, our eldest daughter started asking if she could have a baby sister and posing some rather sobering "why not?" questions… We were physically able and were both sure that we were not sure we were "done." About the same time that our daughter started asking us tough questions (at 5 years old), the Watoto Children's choir came to our church. God seemed to be planting a seed in our hearts of compassion for the orphan and a deeper desire to become part of the story in one child's life as their forever family. The greater our understanding of our hopeless state without God and his immeasurable love and grace adopting us into His family, the greater our desire to love those our Father grants us the honor of encountering in our daily lives or welcoming into this family and into this home. Here we are now on this journey. We are taking steps of faith, believing that we will soon be united with our youngest daughter who we have yet to meet, but affectionately call Grace.
