ALOHA! We are SO close! As I write this we are hopefully just 4-6 weeks away from traveling to get Bethany and bring her to her FOREVER FAMILY! Bethany was diagnosed as a newborn with Osteogenesis Imperfecta–Brittle Bone Disease. There is no cure. She has broken both femurs twice in her short life as well as many more. She refuses to let it get her down!! This process has taken our family a rare and rather torturous 3.5 years. There were never supposed to be so many bumps in our journey. But what doesn't kill us does makes us stronger! If it weren't for a couple of those huge bumps, we'd have our adoption fully funded. However, almost 18 months into our journey, our former agency lost their Hague accreditation and were shut down and took $15,000 of our money with them–money we found out later was taken explicitly against Hague regulations. We have over $9000 left in our adoption account but we need $15,000 more to cover travel and post-placement fees. If saving and fundraising don't make our goal, we will take out a loan–our sweet Bethany is worth it! We hesitated to ask for help, but several dear friends reminded us that by not asking, we are depriving those who would like to bless us with their help and support from doing so. We know times are tough. But if our story touches your heart and you can help us in anyway, know that we are eternally grateful. Please know that we plan to make a full-size quilt for Bethany and have the names of ALL those who loved her before they knew her placed on the back so that she may forever know how much you all cared! From the bottom of our hearts…THANK YOU and MAHALO! The Huber family
