We want to say a huge "Thank You" to everyone who has already contributed to our adoption journey, whether in helping us cover Amelia's adoption costs or in helping us raise funds for our adoption of Baby #2! Your support truly means more to us than we could ever express.
With your help, we have already raised over $12,000 of our $20,000 goal amount! What a blessing and encouragement!
Near the end of Summer 2017, we began the official process of adopting a second child, and around Christmas that year, we completed our home study and profile book and were approved to adopt again.
Over the past 11 months, we have had 9 prospective adoption placement opportunities, which is a lot! So, although our projected wait time was 23 months, we feel there's a good chance this baby will come sooner!
In case you aren't informed about our fundraising effort, here's a little more info:
As part of our adoption process, we decided to start a crowdfunding campaign. Amelia's adoption costs totaled over $30,000 (not counting infertility treatment that led us toward adoption), and this second adoption will cost the same amount. This is why we set a goal of $20,000 to help ease the financial challenge that often overwhelms adoptive parents. We are partnering with two non-profit, 501(c)(3) organizations in order to raise the funds we need: 'Pure Charity' and 'AdoptionTogether.' As a result, all donations towards the adoption through the site are TAX DEDUCTIBLE.
The cost of adoption is NOT a payment for a child. The expenses cover legal fees for the birth parent(s), the adoption agency, and us; provide life-long counseling services for the placing family, the adoptive parents, and the adopted child; help cover the birth mother's medical expenses; fund advertising for us prior to the adoption; pay adoption agency staff and government agencies to conduct the home study interviews and investigations; and provide the needed funds to conduct a careful matching process. Birth parents who place their children through Bethany Christian Services have sought out adoption and have been counseled and informed of all their options, with kindness and sensitivity, always being encouraged to consider parenting first. We are so thankful to be working with such a reputable, high quality adoption agency!
