"Always remember, there was nothing worth sharing like the love that let us share our name." –The Avett Brothers
Adoption has been woven into our marriage since its beginning in 2014. Although it seems wild that we are starting this process with two small biological kiddos, it is very clear that God has had this in the plan for a long time. Over the course of our five years together, we have been connected with three potential birth moms, talked to lawyers, prayed about our family, and fasted for answers. To be quite honest, we have also tried to run from the answers because having another baby is exciting, yet terrifying. One miscarriage and two sweet boys later, here we are with hands outstretched and plans open.
Fortunately, Paul's company offers some reimbursement for adoption expenses, but domestic infant adoption is pricey. We intend to apply for as many grants as we qualify for once we are home study approved. We are going to be working with Christian Adoption Consultants for the adoption itself and Abiding Love to get our home study done. The average domestic infant adoption is about $40,000-$50,000, though we will have a more exact price whenever we get matched. We are humbled by being called to parent a baby who needs a home and we hope that in addition to donations, you will pray for our family in this exciting and emotional adventure.
Both Paul and I have side jobs already so we are going to hustle to earn as much extra income as possible, but we also believe that adoption is a beautiful way for community to care for orphans. Not everyone is going to adopt or foster a child into their family, but we should all be working to love on the families that do. We also feel very strongly about loving on the mothers and fathers that make the decision to terminate their parental rights, whatever the reasons may be. We hope that you will come alongside us to contribute whatever you can to help us bring home a new baby. We are willing to go to whatever lengths necessary to bring this baby into our home, but we are excited to see how God provides through all this. We hope that we do not need to dip into savings or other things, so pray that our fundraising and alternate income sources are fruitful.
Rest assured, all money donated will go directly to adoption fees and creating a home for baby girl Calvo. We are happy to be transparent about the finances, so feel free to ask if you are curious. We won't be offended. :)
