We are adopting a child!
Our family Journey up to this point has been one of great joy and times of disappointment also. After having Hunter, who is now three years old, we embarked on a journey to have another child. After many tests and very expensive fertility treatments including a failed IVF procedure over the last two years, God has been moving in our hearts concerning adoption. We strongly believe that everything up to this point has been leading us and preparing our hearts to not only be open to adoption, but to cause us as a family to overflow with anticipation and excitement at the possibility!
We are beyond excited and are doing everything we can to be prepared to welcome a beautiful new life into our home. As part of our adoption process, we have started a crowdfunding campaign. It was surprising to learn that adoption related costs can easily total up to $40,000 or more! This is why we have set a goal of $40,000 to help ease the financial burden that often overwhelms adoptive parents. This is a huge step of financial faith for us as a family, but we are excited to see God's faithfulness as He works by whatever means He chooses. We will also update this financial goal as we start applying for, and hopefully receiving grants once our home study is completed. Costs include a home study, fee's to the agency, three trips to Atlanta Georgia for training, meeting the birth Mother and finally to pick up our baby.
We are working hard to raise the funds through various fundraisers for the adoption, and while we are still paying off our failed IVF procedure, we are putting every cent we can of our own money toward this. We’ve been challenged as a family to be completely transparent with all of you as to where every dollar is going so for all those who are interested here is the breakdown.
Commitment Fee to agency: $2,500; escrow account (birth mothers needs): $3,800; Agency Match fees: $31,200; Home Study: $2,900; Travel cost (three trips to Atlanta): $4,000.
Total: $ 46,900
