After we had our first daughter, Lilliana, we decided to adopt. We began the process to adopt from Ethiopia. Due to some changes in the program, our timeline increased by 3 years overnight. We knew we wanted to have another biological child so we decided to leave it in God&'s hands about which child would join our family next. Soon we got pregnant with Emmalyn and made the heartbreaking decision to leave the Ethiopian adoption program. A few days after Emmalyn was born we found out that she is deaf. While this was difficult news to hear, we were so glad that our precious baby didn&'t have a life-threatening issue. We are blessed to live in a time with many opportunities for deaf children. Recently we realized we were ready to adopt. Because of our experience with Emmalyn, our hearts were open to a child with special needs. We began checking listings of children in China that were considered to be special focus. This means that they are considered to be difficult to place because of their special need or their age. We stumbled across a photo of a little boy who was listed as deaf. We requested to review his file and, after lots of prayer, we knew he was our son! Our biggest stumbling block to bring our son home is the finances. We know, though, that God is creating our family and that He will provide. Nancy has increased her workload and we have started a business making jewelry to support our adoption. God has also brought some very generous people into our lives, but we still have quite a ways to go. Here, you will be able to make a tax-deductible donation to our adoption. Thank you so much for your support!
