Doodle for Love – Help us adopt a baby!

We have really EXCITING news that we want to share!

Patrick, Kasey and family are adopting a sweet baby boy/girl???

We are beyond excited and are doing everything we can to be prepared to welcome a beautiful new life into our home. Some of you may know but adoption is something that Patrick and I have discussed for quite some time. It is something that means a great deal to both us for many reasons. We believe that this is the time that we are called to embark on this faith lead journey and would like to complete it with the help of community, family and friends. It truly takes a village to raise a child and the birth mother that chooses us will need a lot of support, as well as us in ways that we are not even aware of yet.

As part of our adoption process, we have started a sweepstakes to win one of our mini goldendoodles. Every donor with a gift of $50 or more will be entered to win. If you wish to donate and do not want to win a mini goldendoodle, please let us know. The puppy cannot be exchanged for cash. The puppy can not be sold or transferred to different ownership unless pre-arranged with breeder. If the puppy ever needs rehomed for whatever reason, winner agrees to contact Goldendoodles by Design first. www.goldendoodlesbydesign.com

It may surprise you to hear that adoption related costs can easily total up to $45,000 or more. While we are also looking into various adoption grant options, we have set a goal of $45,000 to help ease the financial burden that often overwhelms adoptive parents. This was not an easy thing, to ask those who we know and do not know to support us in this journey. We truly look at this as a faith walk and trust that through your help and support we will be able to help a birth mother with expenses and fees toward her prenatal care, labor and delivery expenses, housing expenses, attorney fees, our travel to meet he/she that has been chosen for our family as well.

We hope that by inviting you into this process, you will see yourself as part of the community we hope to build around our sweet baby as he/she grows up. Nelson Mandela once said “There can be no keener revelation of a society’s soul than the way in which it treats its children”. Our vision is to bring a precious baby into our home and shower them with infinite love.

We want to thank you in advance for extending yourself and supporting us in this way. If you are willing to donate or share, we greatly appreciate you and the baby that is meant for our home will be forever grateful as well. We will continue to make posts and keep everyone updated as our journey unfolds.

_ A little about our family _

When we first met, we had so much in common–our faith, a drive to help others, and a love for all things pizza. At the end of the night, Kasey had to ask the single most crucial question that would define our entire relationship: do you like dogs? …Thank goodness Patrick said yes. 15 years later we are surrounded by our Goldendoodles and loving family. Family means everything to us and we have always dreamed of a big family.

We were blessed with two boys who are now ages 13 and 7. Kasey suffered with Hyperemesis Gravidarum through both pregnancies–Princess Kate had nothing on her. Multiple hospital stays, bed rest, home health care, dozens of iv’s, a continuous zofran pump and many, many tears. Each pregnancy seemed worse than the first. Kasey also suffered from 3 miscarriages. Unfortunately, through these complications we have discovered that Kasey can no longer carry another child. While our hearts were broken at the news, we knew that wouldn’t stop us from loving another child.

Our family has fostered 28 children in 3 years, the goal always being reunification. However, we knew if a child could not be reunified, we would welcome them into our family forever. Each time a child goes home, we give thanks to God but also experience grief. It’s a roller coaster of emotions that only a foster family can truly understand. We are more than ready to welcome our own forever child into our family. This will not change our minds about fostering though, we feel a deep calling to continue to provide this service to our community.

Patrick is a fun and goofy dad. He loves nothing more than spending time with our family. He always goes out of his way to make special memories with Ethan and Cale. One of his favorites is hiding in another room with them sneaking snacks while I make dinner!

Patrick has a college degree and runs the sales department for a national agricultural firm. He is very fortunate in the flexibility that his job allows him. He is a hard worker but makes his family his number one priority. He is home with us every evening and often makes us amazing dinners; he is quite the chef and the kids rave over his “world famous cheeseburgers”. There isn’t a meal prepared in our kitchen without country music and bad dance moves.

Kasey has a college degree and works as a Registered Nurse. The pandemic only made her want to help more. She is kind and loving and we are so lucky to have her. Thankfully there’s a limit to how many children DCS will allow you to have in your home at one time, otherwise she would take every child in need. She is our boys biggest fan and giver of hugs.

Our home sits just outside of town with lots of natural light and 3 acres for the kids and dogs to play. We love to be outside! We have the perfect space for entertaining family and friends. We love spending summer nights outside watching baseball, cooking out, or playing with our dogs.

We believe there is nothing we can’t take on through prayer and a pint of ice cream, and that makes us who we are. We believe in giving thanks to God at every opportunity. We pray. We love. We hope and we dream. Dogs are family. We believe in forgiveness and in the Chicago Cubs. Everyone is welcomed in our home.

Our 7 year old puts everything into perspective perfectly. Whether it’s throwing a coin in a fountain, blowing out his birthday candles, or wishing on a star, his wish is always the same: to have a little baby brother or sister that is his to love forever!
