Nelson and Andrea (us) wholeheartedly agreed early on in our relationship (way before marriage) that instead of even trying for biological children, we would adopt. We have a lot of love to give (and tons of embarrassing parent pride moments pent up like shouting "THAT'S MY KID!!!" and waving frantically) and we know there are so many kids out there who we'd be lucky to have as our child.
We are beyond excited and are reading all the books, covering all the outlets, and babyproofing all the rooms in order to be prepared to welcome a beautiful child into our home.
It may surprise you to hear that adoption-related costs can easily total more than $40,000. And that's the kind of money Nelson and Andrea don't have sitting around (despite Andrea's best budgeting efforts… she be real frugal, bad grammar intended). So as a part of our adoption process, we have started this crowdfunding campaign. We need your help to keep our kid out of the foster care system and bring them to our loving (albeit very nerdy) home.
We hope that by inviting you into this process, you will see yourself as part of the community we hope to build around our child as he/she grows up. Because you will be!! It takes a village, and that's no joke.
