We are adopting a little girl from China!
We are so excited and eager to bring her home, and we are doing everything we can to be prepared to welcome this sweet 8 year old girl into our home. As part of our adoption process, we have started a crowdfunding campaign. It may surprise you to hear that adoption related costs for international adoptions can easily total up to $35,000 or more. This is why we have set a goal of $25,000 to help ease the financial burden and to allow us to have sufficient funds saved to address her medical needs when we welcome her home.
We hope that by inviting you into this process, you will see yourself as part of the community we hope to build around our daughter as she grows up. And we definitely would appreciate your prayers, too, both for our new daughter and for our family as we all adjust to this new life together.
Our daughter also has some medical needs, the full extent of which we won’t know completely until she is here in the United States and able to see a doctor. Please be in prayer for those, too, and that we will be able to get answers and provide her with the best medical care possible.
As of right now, we have received pre-approval from China for the specific child we are planning to adopt, and we have received approval of our home study by USCIS. Our dossier has been logged in (“LID”) in China, and we are now waiting for China to approve our dossier and send us the next approval, which is the Letter Seeking Confirmation (“LOA” aka Letter of Approval). We will continue to share updates as we move along in the process. The average time from LID to travel is 4-5 months, so we are hoping to travel sometime in the April-June time frame.
We have a lot to do between now and then (including learning some Mandarin 😬), but we have been so encouraged to see how the Lord’s timing and hand has been in this and led us to this sweet girl in ways only He can work. We would love to share more with you of the details of how we arrived at this decision to adopt, how we decided on China, and how we ended up choosing this adorable girl specifically, so feel free to ask. And we can’t wait to share her picture and videos with you on here once we have received LOA!
Thank you for your support and your prayers! â¤ï¸â¤ï¸â¤ï¸
