Hi! We are Ben & Christina Davis and we are so excited to share about what God is doing in our lives. We are high school sweethearts and this fall we will be celebrating eight years of marriage! Early in our relationship we realized the Lord was calling us to adopt. This desire gave way to the realization that we wanted financial freedom when the time was right, so we intensely paid off our debt.
In 2017 we spent a year praying about a new location, a new job, that would take us anywhere outside California. We believed that we would need to live in a cheaper area to move forward with adoption. However, the doors that we thought God was going to open, closed. Shortly thereafter we had peace to stay in Southern California. Last summer someday became too distant. We believed God was calling us to step out in obedience and take action on the calling that He placed on our lives. He was asking us to relinquish the control that our hearts so desperately yearn for and walk into the unknown.
This call to move forward has been absolutely terrifying, but wonderfully peaceful at the same time. In January, we started pursuing a domestic infant adoption through an Agency in Southern California called Nightlight Christian Adoptions. We affirm their mission statement and intention to provide a loving home for all children. We love their desire to walk alongside the birth mother, to provide any necessary counseling, and to prepare each family through intentional education requirements.
Our application was submitted and approved within a couple of days. Right now, we are working on completing all of the education requirements and gathering the documents needed to complete our Home Study. At this point the exact total expense is unknown, but typically an adoption can range from $30K-$45K. We have been saving for over a year now and have been able to reach $18K. We still have a long way to go, but we believe that God is faithful and will continue to grow our faith through this journey. We will faithfully move forward with the resources He has provided, and apply for grants once the Home Study is approved. We are creating this profile because some dear friends and family members have asked how they can come along side us in this journey. Thank you for your continued prayers and support. How can you be praying?
First and foremost, we are praying for the future birth mother and father. We are praying that they would choose life. We are praying that whatever their situation, God would provide hope in their circumstance and that they would come to know Jesus as their personal Savior. We pray that our personal adoption journey would be a beautiful, vivid picture of the gospel. Lastly, we are praying that God would provide financially. We believe that God is calling us to step out in faith as we lay down our worries, insecurities, and anxieties. We are praying that He would provide in a way that will ultimately bring glory to His name.
