We are a fun loving family of five, now soon to be seven! Being actively involved in the lives of our children through theatre, soccer, homeschooling gives us such joy in life. Watching them grow into who God has made them to be is such a privilege and one we do not take lightly. In November 2016, our family was very much like yours, busy! We initially heard about the idea of "hosting" through our friends Facebook post. I felt drawn to the idea and mentioned it to Dale as we drove to a theatre rehearsal one evening. He was totally on board! So after many quick prayers and discussions with a few close friends, we said YES! Although we had always loved the idea of a large family we had never considered adoption until we met E and E through the hosting program done by New Horizons for Children. By going outside of the comfort zone of our lovely suburban bubble and loving these two sweet kids in our home for 4 weeks, we were blessed with a joy that truly changed our family. We made so many memories doing the simplest of things like cooking, playing basketball, swimming and playing card games. Although not every single moment was perfect, they truly seemed to fill in a missing piece to our family that we never knew existed! Fast forward to March 2017 and we find that throughout the day, each of our kids will mention E and E in different moments as their minds wander to how they're doing. They pray for them and as we head to soccer and theatre our kids often talk about what it will be like for E and E to join us! Thankfully we can at least say "hello" and send pictures almost daily through social media. Although they have been asked "Do you want to be adopted by the Disch family?" and have said yes, we have not been able to discuss anything about the adoption with them directly. One day soon we hope to be able to discuss the adoption openly with them! We now embark on our fundraising journey to bring E and E here to their forever home!
