We are adopting a child!
Family has always been a core value between Julius and I. As we begin this journey, we know that the love we receive will be a great base of support for the start of our family. The decision to go through adoption has always been an open topic since we first got together and as fate has chosen, our path to take.
After over a year of trying to have a child the good old fashioned way, our doctors gave us the heart breaking news that because of a genetic disorder, we cannot bear children. Even our backup method of IVF was out of the picture at this point. There were tears of disappointment shed and quiet conversations with our families to deliver the news, but we never gave up hope of having children. We consulted close friends about their own adoption experiences and took advice from those we trust on the best way to travel this path. Adoption, as our option, came full circle from our early conversations while we were dating, to us preparing to embark on this exciting journey together as a married couple. We sincerely appreciate all the love and support everyone has given us to get to this point!
We are beyond excited and are doing everything we can to be prepared to welcome a beautiful new life into our home. As part of our adoption process, we have started a crowdfunding campaign. It may surprise you to hear that adoption related costs can easily total up to $35,000 or more. This is why we have set a goal of $7,500 to help ease the financial burden that often overwhelms adoptive parents. These funds will not only be used to support our adoption dreams, but to also help aid the birth mother as our baby grows in her belly.
