Our dearest friends and family,
Welcome to our fundraising page for Baby Dorr! If you are new to our adoption story, we are Jake & Jamie Dorr and we are so grateful that you are reading our story. The road to building our family has been long and trying. Over the past two years we have experienced abundant joy and abundant sorrow. Our hearts were filled with joy as we, through two different pregnancies, have seen two heartbeats on an ultrasound screen. We’ve been filled with excitement as we carried our son through his 35 weeks of pregnancy. But we have also experienced abundant sorrow as we said “see you soon” to our daughter in utero, as well as, holding our son as he slipped into eternity after two months of battling for his life in the NICU. We placed them both, into the arms of Jesus, after multiple tests for both were done. The doctors described what happened as, “unknown, unexplainable, unheard-of.” Both my son and my daughter had perfect test results, so even though we don’t understand why it happened, we don’t need to, because our confidence and assurance of hope is placed in a God who sees all, knows all, and not one sparrow can drop without his knowledge. Both of our angel children have been our world for the past two years and as we continued to pray to God for a family after walking through the unimaginable - God, again in his mercy, met us there.
After saying “see you soon” to our son Barron, God began to work on our hearts. A desire for children was always there, but our prayer evolved into, “God you have given us a desire for children so if that is not your will for us, take the desire away, but if it is, then you have to put them in our house.” No one grows up imagining that having children will be hard. It isn’t until you realize that bringing children into your home is a complete walk of faith, that you are actually not in control at all, only God is.
So as we prayed and prayed, God placed adoption on our hearts. Jake and I both had moments when we felt God speak to us and say, “You’re next child is not of your womb and I need you to trust me on that.” So here we are, beyond excited and doing everything we can to be prepared to welcome a beautiful new life into our home. Little did we know though, that the exact same day our adopted child was born in our hearts that I, in fact, was pregnant with a miracle baby. After walking through a fertility journey to get pregnant with our son, never in a million years did I think we would be here. Expectant of 2018 and the two littles it will bring to our home in Jesus’ name! We are overwhelmed and undone by the faithfulness of our Father. And as we walk this road of faith to bring these two babes into our home we invite you to join us on this process. Our biggest prayer through you reading our testimony is that you hear and know that there is a God who created this world and everything in it, and out of all the things he has created, He is obsessed with you. That even through the moments where life doesn’t go the way you think it will, you can’t get that job, there is still not a baby in your home, or you are walking a road where the pain is so thick you feel like you can’t breathe, He is there. And He invites you to be a part of His family, by believing in what He did on the cross for you. And better yet, to believe that He is coming back for you, and in that time all things will be redeemed unto Him. We also pray you will see yourself as a part of the community of God, a community we hope to build around our children as they grow in wisdom and in stature.
Lastly, should you prayerfully decide to give financially towards our adoption. Just know we are overwhelmed with thankfulness that you would help ease this financial burden for us. That in doing so, you believe in us as parents, and that fact will always bring us to our knees. So as a thank you, we pray that the Lord blesses you and keeps you all of your days, and that little by little (though not entirely) he will show you the great and good plans He has for your life.
In Him,
Jake & Jamie Dorr
