I have always wanted to have children and believed that adoption would be part of my path to motherhood. I was very fortunate to have spent a significant amount of time with friends who are adoptive parents and friends who were adopted themselves. When I finally reached a point where I felt established in my career, I started to take the first concrete steps toward adopting a child myself.
Once I completed my home study in 2019, I was matched with a birth mother and brought my son Lennox home from the hospital, all in less than 2 months! It was an incredible whirlwind. But looking back, it was the best leap I've ever taken.
Lennox is 2.5 years old now, and our life together is so sweet. I work as a physician assistant at a private clinic, and Lennox enjoys singing, gymnastics, petting animals, helping around the house, reading books, and socializing with his friends and teachers at preschool. We are actively involved in our local church, Strong Tower Church in Lakeland, Florida, where I serve in the nursery and have developed close supportive relationships within our small home group. Lennox's sense of humor and imagination are growing by the day. I truly cannot imagine life without him.
Two weeks ago I was contacted out of the blue by our adoption agency and asked if I would consider adopting again. This sweet baby is the biological brother of my son, and is due to be born in just 4 short weeks! Initially, I was honored, shocked, and certainly anxious to receive this sudden news. But after lots of tearful prayer, I felt the Lord leading me to bring this little boy into our family.
At this time, the home study is nearly complete, and I have officially accepted the match with the boys' birth mother. The sum of money I need to raise immediately includes all of the agency placement and legal fees involved in a private adoption. I am applying for adoption grants and interest-free adoption loans to assist, but still need to gather a significant amount of cash in order to bring this little one home. I'm thankful for any and all contributions and prayers.
