We are adopting a child!
We are beyond excited and are doing everything we can to be prepared to welcome another child in our home. As part of our adoption process, we have started a crowdfunding campaign. It may surprise you to hear that adoption related costs can easily total up to $35,000 or more.
Our first adoption was a traditional domestic adoption and we complete that over 20 years ago. Several years ago after hosting an orphan from Ukraine, we knew we were called to adopt him. We had a small detour and a big blessing that delayed that adoption, and were able to adopt a different teenage boy while waiting for our identified young man to become available for adoption. Almost 5 years ago, when we made the decision to adopt again, we knew we would have to do some fund raising, but only planned on adopting one child. We are now in the very final phase of this, our second international adoption. We completed the home study and requirements to satisfy the United States government and have submitted all the necessary documents required by the Ukraine government. We are scheduled for one more trip to Ukraine for our petition to adopt to be heard in court. After a judgement is entered we will make a trip back with the necessary documents for our new son to return home with us.
This request is for the remaining travel expenses, 4 round trip tickets and 1 one way to bring our new son home. We also have some travel expenses in Ukraine as his orphanage is 14 hours outside of Kiev in Mariopul.
We are really hoping to bring him home before Christmas and are grateful for your prayers and support.
