Sarah Effhauser

is adopting a child from United States of America

The Effhauser's are embarking on an adventure…we're adopting!

Make justice your aim: redress the wronged, hear the orphan’s plea, defend the widow. Isaiah 1:17

Adoption has been on our hearts for years and we have been patiently waiting and prayerfully discerning when and where to begin the process of bringing home a new little one. After years of prayer and discernment, now is the time!

We have begun the process of bringing home a little boy with the sweetest smile and extra chromosome. He happens to have Down syndrome and in his birth country in Eastern Europe, he is living in an orphanage without the love of a family. The social norm is for families that receive a diagnosis of Down syndrome in their babies to relinquish their children to social services. These children are then placed in institutional care and although they are doing the best they can with the resources available to them, the love of a family cannot be replicated. We hope to be that forever family for our sweet boy. We wish we could share a picture and his name with you but due to country privacy rules, we cannot do that until we pass court in his birth country. But trust us, he is SO cute and worthy of love and a family!

GAME PLAN

We have been preparing for this moment by researching, praying and saving. There is no doubt that the cost of international adoption is huge but the return is ten-fold. Below you will see the breakdown of our expenses to complete the adoption. We had the beginning fees saved and they have been paid to our agencies; you will see those in gold. Through continued saving, the local sale of cookies @TheSugaredBeet and the generosity of others through fundraising, we hope to accomplish this goal quickly. The faster we can save and raise funds, the faster we can bring our boy home!

HOW YOU CAN HELP:

#1 Pray! We invite you to walk along side of us in prayer as we prepare to add a son to our family. We are asking for specific intercessory prayers to St. Michael the Archangel through the Prayer of St. Michael for protection over our boy as we work to bring him home. Please pray that his health will be sustained and that his heart will feel the love so many have for him, miles away.

#2 Donate! By donating to our adoption through this website and you can feel comfortable knowing the money goes where intended. AdoptTogether will pay our adoption fees directly to our agencies and only release it to us with approved receipts of money spent on specific adoption expenses. Bonus - it's tax deductible! AdoptTogether is an IRS approved 501c3 non-profit organization.

::We have our kickoff fundraisers going on our personal Facebook pages if you’d like to check them out!::

#3 Share! We love shouting the worth of all people from the rooftops and we want to ask you to join us in doing so. Please feel free to share this website link with your family, friends and on social media!

We hope that by inviting you into this process, you will see yourself as part of the community we hope to build around our child as he grows up. We cannot thank you enough for your prayers and support and in turn, walking along side us on this journey.
