Whelp, it’s about to get personal! For those of you who don’t know, we have been actively trying to conceive for about two years now, but have not been using birth control for three years. This past year, we have gone a step further and completed fertility testing, and the IUI process a few times — unfortunately, each time unsuccessful. Due to many complications, it just isn’t working for us. So, after $10,000 that has already been spent through testing, IUIs, medication, etc., we are still left without a bundle of joy.
You are all aware of how much we love children, how great we are with them, and how much we crave to be parents — we always have. Our next step is one that we have had many discussions about. We decided not to go the next route through fertility because it’s insanely costly, with no guarantee, not to mention the physical, emotional, and mental toll it would continue to take on both of us. Instead, we would rather put all the money toward an adoption, which is also insanely costly.
We hate looking like a “charity case”, but after calling around, every agency has quoted the price to be around $40-$50,000. Yes, you read that correctly - $40-$50,000. We have found an agency that is a bit cheaper, but still outrageous. So, we have decided to reach out to our support system for help. Any small amount is MUCH appreciated and even if you cannot help, sharing this would be just as helpful!
While it may suck that we are going through this (and we truly feel for others who are experiencing the same), we are lucky that we have a support system who loves and cares so much for us. We want to say thank you for those who have been checking on us, reaching out, praying for us, and for those few who have been listening to me vent in frustration. Anything you can do, would be greatly appreciated.
