In 2012 we began the journey of trying to grow our family. We went into it bright-eyed and bushy tailed, assuming things would go as we had planned. Fast forward a few years and we were as heartbroken and confused as ever. After one miscarriage, one ectopic pregnancy, one surgery, lots of medication, awkward doctor appointments, and many tear-filled nights, we decided maybe there was a reason we were running into so many obstacles in pursuing the traditional route. We began to pray about and discuss adoption and decided, on Courtney's 30th birthday, that this was truly the right next step for us. And then it was just plain amazing. The moment we realized adoption was what God had intended, things began to fall so miraculously into place. And 9 months later, in the spring of 2015, our daughter Layla was born. Our hearts and lives were forever changed the moment we laid eyes on her and we are incredibly grateful for the selfless gift her birthmother gave us. So, here we are starting the process all over again in hopes to give our sweet, little girl a sibling. And she's ready! She carries her baby doll around the house all day, hugging and feeding it. We asked her recently if she wants a baby sibling and she exclaimed "Yah!" [Let's excuse the fact that she gets super jealous anytime either of us holds another baby, haha.] Adoption is our heart. It was God's Plan A for us all along. And we cannot wait to see how He brings another child into our home as we continue on this journey!
