Our Story
I have wanted to adopt for as long as I can remember. I grew up in a home where everyone was always welcome, and when you were there you were family. It didn’t matter how old or young you were. It didn’t matter where you came from, and it didn’t matter if we all looked alike…in my house, you were family. Josh grew up in a similar way. His family is filled with the most welcoming and embracing people I have ever met. I think the common thread throughout our families, the value that was instilled in us, was that it's love that makes a family.
This idea is something that we have taken with us through our journey of life. This philosophy has allowed us to come to know and love some of the greatest humans that this world has to offer. These relationships may be spread out all around the country, but once we are together it’s like no time has ever passed. We feel grateful to know what it means to love without bounds, to open our hearts to others and to reap the beautiful reward of love in return.
This love, this idea that love makes a family, is the brush that continues to paint the story of our life.
Josh and I have had the beautiful opportunity to travel all around the world, to see places and meet people that some only dream about. In these times, we saw beauty and we saw pain. We met families who loved each other deeply, and we met children who have never known the love of a mother or a father. In each one of these encounters our hearts began to become more and more attached to the idea that adoption would be a vital role in building our family. We will never forget the moments in which we both realized that we could instantly fall fiercely in love with a child we’d only just met. This changed me, it changed Josh, it changed us. We knew. Adoption was a part of us long before we ever knew who our children will be.
Well, fast forward, 8 years of marriage, 3 cross country moves, lots of ups and downs, successes and failures and a commitment to saying yes to wherever we feel God is calling us to be… our dream is becoming a reality. It’s time for us to begin our next great adventure, building our family.
This February, I was sitting in our living room, and I received a text from one of my best friends. Not knowing that this very text message would be the catalyst of complete world change for us. You see, our dear friends were in the middle of their own adoption journey, and knew of our desire to adopt one day. So in reading of stories and seeing pictures of waiting children, my friend came across two beautiful little girls, sisters. She sent me their picture, with a little description about them, and it literally took my breath away. I’ll never forget this moment for the rest of my life. Where I was sitting, the way my heart started beating faster. I immediately show Josh, who just begins to smile and turn red. This moment launched us into the what if… What if now is the time? What if this is meant to be? What if these girls were meant to be ours? The what if’s turned into a resounding yes. Yes, we want more information, yes we want to set up a phone call, yes we want to apply, yes we want to tell the country we want them, yes we want to be their family. Then the yes came back to us, we were approved. Our application was approved. It’s real, it’s happening these very girls are now to become our daughters.
Josh and I are thrilled to say, WE ARE ADOPTING, two little angel babies. The girls are 3 and 5 years old and are from East Africa. We know this is nothing short of a beautiful adventure, and we would like to invite you along on our journey. We will do everything we can to share what we can, as much as we can. We ask that you would pray with us, that you would believe with us, and that you would stay with us along the way.

I close with this, “God can create a family across countries, beyond genetics, through impossible circumstances, and past reason.” - Jen Hatmaker

This we believe with our whole hearts. So now we embark on our greatest adventure, building a family by love and choice.

We love you all! Thank you for loving us!
