Both of us, Bradley and Carissa, have been so excited to share our adoption journey with our friends, family, and surrounding community. When we first starting dating 12 years ago and even getting married 5 years ago as high school sweet hearts, we weren't sure what adventures life had in store for us. Adoption has been something on our hearts to varying extents throughout our relationship, including having relatives join our family though adoption! After our 5 lovely years of being a family with the two of us, we decided to start the process of adopting a young child from South Africa to bring a third member into our home.
We have a placement agency, an affiliate agency in South Africa, and a local home study agency, all of whom have accepted and approved us as a potential family for adoption. We are currently in the midst of our home study and are saving and fundraising to acquire the funds necessary to finalize and have a fully approved home study. After that we will be one giant step closer toward bringing a little person into our family.
We ask for your prayers in this journey, specifically prayers for the child and birth parents whose lives will become intertwined with our own.
As part of our adoption process, we have started a crowdfunding campaign. Our total adoption costs will be approximately $20,000 including all agency fees and travel costs. This is why we have set a goal of $15,000 to help ease the financial burden that often overwhelms adoptive parents.
We have been saving money on our own and have already raised nearly $10000 in fundraising from generous friends and family ($6000 on this platform).
We are nearly done with our home study and so excited to be on this journey!
