is adopting a child from China

It was God's heart for the fatherless that pierced both of our hearts before we ever met 15 years ago. As we planned for a lifetime together, we knew that adoption would be a part of our journey. When our 3 bio kids were still toddlers, we became a foster family and were able to know and love many children and families in the 6 years we were licensed. In that time, we adopted 2 little girls who came to us through the foster care system, and ended up needing a forever family. It was an absolute joy to call them our daughters! It caught us a bit by surprise (is adoption ever a surprise?!) when God directed our hearts towards a little boy in China. Diagnosed with thalassemia and abandoned at 1.5 years old, he has received inadequate medical treatment in the orphanage and, as a result, has a very short life expectancy. However, adoption is his chance at life as he can be provided with the medical care he needs to survive. At 10 years old, we know he deserves that chance. As our son, not only will he have a mom, dad and siblings who love and adore him and are so eager to celebrate him, but he will have the medical care he needs (life long transfusions and chelation therapy) that will allow him many long, full years. We cannot wait to bring him home as our beloved son and brother.
