This is Us and Our Story -
A little information on us for those who do not know our story - My name is Melody Fender and my husband's name is Brandon. We have been married for 14 years this August 2019. I am a stay at home wife who loves to bake, craft and love on people and animals. He is a law enforcement officer for Indianapolis Metro PD and enjoys construction on the side.
We both want children and started trying soon after we were married. I can remember wanting to be a mother since the age of 2 and have longed for that dream to come true. So, we tried and tried for years and just trusted that God had a plan for us.
Finally, we decided to try fertility medicine in 2017/2018, after finding out I have PCOS. I was put on Clomid. Something that should have been a 3-5 month period - took 11 months because of miscommunication and other health issues. So,we tried some other medicines where I would come in to be seen monthly to check if I had ovulated. I was starting to get somewhere and would ovulate a little more than I had, but still nothing was happening.
Shortly into the fertility treatments, we started to come across all sorts of blocks in the road. Whether it be insurance reasons, or medicine being too expensive, or the fact that it just was not working. It seemed like no matter how hard I tried to be on top of things and do what was asked of me, it just was a hassle more than anything. I began to come discouraged but still trusting that God has a plan for us. So, we continued… Brandon got tested (Of course there were tons of delays in this process as well), and still kept trying.
Adoption has always been in our minds as an option, but never felt strongly led to go ahead with it. Until now, it's like God is saying - "follow me this way" and is opening all the doors for us.
Once we decided to really look into adopting, it was evident that God was just showing us the way. He has led us to our connections with Bethany Christian Services and since talking with them, everything has felt so right. It has been peaceful and so refreshing. It is like God was leading us here all along. And we know that God will not bring us to where He wants us and just drop us off. He will see us through this, but we need your help too!
We are beyond excited and are doing everything we can to be prepared to welcome a beautiful new life into our home. Our hearts are ready - but as you may know getting ready legally & officially to adopt can take some time and money. As part of our adoption process, we have started a crowdfunding campaign. It may surprise you to hear that adoption related costs can easily total up to $35,000 or more. This is why we have set a goal of $35,000 to help ease the financial burden that often overwhelms adoptive parents.
We hope that by inviting you into this process, you will see yourself as part of the community we hope to build around our child as he/she grows up. We also ask if you can not give monetarily but want to support us, that you will at least pray for us during this journey. Not just myself and Brandon, but the sweet baby and the mother as well. We know that the Lord will see us through this process and that He promises good to those who wait, so we are ready and have been waiting! But prayers are always most appreciated.
