Over the past 10 years, God has been showing us more about his heart for the oppressed. Isaiah 1:17 &'Learn to do good. Seek Justice. Help the oppressed. Defend the cause of the orphans. Fight for the rights of widows.&' God doesn&'t tell us just to pray for the oppressed and then to sit on our couches or just go about our lives. He tells us verbs that we are to act on - &'Learn&', &'Seek&', &'Help&', &'Defend&'. We both feel so strongly about advocating on behalf of those at a disadvantage. Over the past 10 years living overseas, we have served to bring hope, love, healing, and opportunity. We feel excited to bring these values into our family as well. Last year, we had the privilege of caring for one special orphan. His determination, resilience, and charm won our hearts. (We would love to tell you his name and show cute pictures- but we aren&'t supposed to just yet!) We are trying to work through the adoption process as quickly and smoothly as possible and be able to bring him home to us as his forever family. This is a long, complicated process and there are no guarantees we can match to him. Either way, we still plan to adopt and we so much appreciate your prayers and support along this exciting journey of bringing home the child that God has prepared for us. We are funding this adoption through our personal savings, applying to grants, and individual donors.
