We have big news, we're adopting a child!
In 2011, through reading multiple passages in the Bible, I, Autumn discovered the Lord’s heart for orphans (James 1:27, Psalm 68:5, Psalm 146:9, John 14:18, ect.). From there I began to pray and seek wise counsel on the topic of adoption. That is when I realized that what the Lord did for me, and for all of us, was adoption. Even though I’ve done nothing to merit His love and inheritance, He calls me His child. We have been spiritually adopted by our heavenly Father.
Even before knowing who God had chosen as my husband I felt His call to a be a good steward of my finances and began saving for the time when He would place a child in my life. When Jacob and I began our relationship, I shared my heart for adoption early on as being part of what I knew would be my future and I prayed it would be something he could see God calling him too. Jacob prayed, researched and also sought wise counsel.
Now, more than two years into our marriage we have begun the process of an international adoption from India. We have been fortunate enough to be surrounded by biblical parents of both biological and adoptive children. These families have been a model for us to understand more about what it means to be a family and what the adoption process involves. We feel prepared to grow our family now that we have clear direction from the Lord and a community to support us through this adoption process.
