Exciting things are happening over here in the Funk Family! We are adopting a baby!
While many of you know the joy that this will bring to our family, you may not know that the average cost of domestic infant adoption in the US is around $35,000. This seems like quite a lot, but these funds go toward important things including counseling for the birth parents, the baby's medical costs and birth expenses, our home study and preparation services, post-placement supervision until the adoption is finalized, and legal fees. It all adds up very quickly!
We'd love to be able to handle these costs on our own, but unfortunately, most of them are required up front whenever you match. Since you never know when you'll match, it's really difficult to plan it all out. Though we're saving and plan on applying for adoption grants, we would love any and all help you can provide to offset some of the expenses.
We _ truly _ believe that the Lord has placed this desire in our hearts and that, despite our concerns and hesitations when it comes to cost, He _ will _ make a way. We are so blessed to be surrounded by incredible people who have supported us and our marriage over the past five years. We are so happy to include you all in this journey with us and hope that you feel like you are a part of this exciting time for us.
We can't wait to tell Baby Funk one day about all of the wonderful people in their life who helped them become part of our family!
