is adopting a child from China

We have BIG news! We are adopting a child!

Just over four years ago, we had our son, Callan. He is a special young man. He was born with achondroplasia, a form of dwarfism. Yep, he's a little person, but he has an enormous heart. He loves to make everyone smile and laugh. At daycare, he has been known to comfort other kids when they are upset until they cheer up.

God has put it on our hearts to provide a family, not only to a waiting child, but in particular, another child with achondroplasia. He has led us to a child in China who is Callan's same age (one month apart). There are extra challenges to children with special needs, but we have God, and our wonderful and supportive Church family to be there for us. We also members of Little People of America (LPA) and have many friends who impart their wisdom and advice along the way.

We are beyond excited and are doing everything we can to be prepared to welcome a beautiful new life into our home. As part of our adoption process, we have started a crowdfunding campaign. It may surprise you to hear that adoption related costs can easily total up to $35,000 or more. This is why we have set a goal of $15,000 to help ease the financial burden that often overwhelms adoptive parents.

We hope that by inviting you into this process, you will see yourself as part of the community we hope to build around our child as he grows up.

UPDATE 10/15/17

We have passed the Home Study process and are now assigned a case manager in the China program. We have submitted all of our dossier documents which have to go through the Secretary of State and then to the Chinese Consulate. We are looking at around 7 months from now for finalization. God willing, sooner.

Thank you for your support and your prayers.
