is adopting a child from Honduras

We have exciting news!

We are adopting our foster daughter!

God has put adoption on our hearts from the beginning of our marriage. While we were waiting to become eligible to adopt in Honduras, we met a baby girl in our community who needed a foster family. God put on our hearts to "care for her in whatever way she needed whenever she needed it." Knowing we were a couple of years away from starting an adoption process and that the Honduran child welfare institution (DINAF) usually forbids families to chose which child they adopt, we did not imagine that this little girl would one day be ours. In June, we got a call out of the blue from DINAF asking if we would like to adopt her. We're humbled to see how God put that desire on our hearts so that we could meet this little person's need for a family.

We are thrilled by the opportunity to be Ari's parents, and we are doing everything we can to prepare for the long journey ahead. We've had more than a few friends and family members ask if there is a way they can give money to help with the costs of the adoption. In response to their inquiries, we have decided to start a crowdfunding campaign.

Though the national adoption in Honduras is much less than many adoptions in the US, we have already found that the little costs add up quickly. Our hope is to raise $2,000 to help cover the cost of processing documents for our dossier (including translations, apostilles, and local authentications), the first legal fee when we turn in our dossier and part of the second fee when Ari is legally "assigned" to us.

We thank you for continuing to be a part of our community and for coming around us and Ari to welcome her in as well.
