We are in the process of adopting a child!
We are beyond excited and are doing everything we can to be prepared to welcome a new life into our home. Adoption has always been a part of our family plan and after becoming foster parents last year, our hearts became more open to this amazing way to build families. Our wonderful adoption agency works with expectant birth mothers who choose to place their infants with families.
It is our desire to educate others on the importance of adoption and to encourage more black families to foster and adopt. We can't wait to share more details with you and keep you updated, however, the adoption process can be long and unpredictable. It started with an application and interview and includes a home study where social workers meet with us and review our finances, health, discipline style, family history, and interpersonal relationships. After the home study we create a small informational booklet and website about ourselves. This booklet will get presented to expectant mothers in various stages of pregnancy who are seeking to make an adoption plan. Once we are chosen it could be a day to several months before the baby is born and we become parents!
As part of our adoption process, we have started a crowdfunding campaign. We hope that by inviting you into this process, you will see yourself as part of the village we hope to build around our child as he/she grows up.
