are adopting a child from Nigeria

" To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God." ~ Micah 6:8

Dear family & friends,

We have some really BIG news to share with you!

We have prayed a prayer since the beginning of our marriage together and the prayer has been, “Father, do you want us to adopt a baby from Africa? If so, please confirm this desire in your time and not ours!”

During our second year of marriage we had the opportunity to serve in an orphanage in Africa together for ten days and during that time God expanded our hearts for the orphan on a deeper level. We left that trip wondering if God might ever call us to the adoption process.

Since then as you know we’ve been blessed with two beautiful young boys (Hank and Cash). But as we continued to pray, there was still a lingering feeling that someone (a little girl from Africa) was not present with us yet and that our family was not fully complete.

So, on our recent trip to London to visit a church, one of our primary prayers was for God to speak to us about whether or not this was from Him or not. I spent some time journaling and praying on the flight about this decision. I looked up at one point as I was reflecting and the flight attendant walked by carrying a bag with a child from Africa on it and the bag read, “saving lives ONE kid at a time!” This was the first of many ways that God spoke to us over that week together in London. We came back home with more than a desire to adopt. We came back home feeling a calling on our lives to adopt.

We are beyond excited for this and if we’re honest a little overwhelmed and scared, but we received the green light we have been looking for. One of the amazing things about our decision is that this isn’t just an “us thing” this is a “we thing!” We can’t do this alone so we are asking our tribe of family and friends to come around us to make this dream a reality. We believe that just as God has been preparing us, he is also preparing a little girl.

As part of our adoption process, we have started a crowdfunding campaign. It may surprise you to hear that adoption related costs can easily total up to fifty-thousand dollars or more. This is why we have set a goal of forty-thousand dollars to help ease the financial burden that often overwhelms adoptive parents. We hope that by inviting you into this process of prayer and financial support, you will see yourself as part of the community we hope to build around our child as she grows up.

We'll be giving you updates along the way through our social media accounts. In the meantime, please be praying for us - and for our baby girl. And please consider sharing our story as you feel led.
