As a couple, we have felt the call to adopt for several years now. Rachel has felt called to adopt since high school and can remember daydreaming of a family that looked like heaven with several races represented. Matt started thinking more at what adoption looked like after visiting Haiti in 2011, a few months after he and Rachel were married. In 2013, Rachel had the amazing opportunity to work at Show Hope - a ministry started by Mary Beth and Steven Curtis Chapman after having their own eyes and hearts opened to the global orphan crisis. Show Hope has worked to holistically approach orphan care -helping children in four key areas of Adoption Aid, Care Centers, Pre+Post Adoption Support, and Student Initiatives.
Last Fall, we decided it was time to grow our family. Upon making that decision, we took a lot of time to pray, rest, and talk about if our next step would be to adopt or to try to have another child biologically. It was quickly very evident to us that it was time to act on the calling God has given us. So here we are - completely stepping out in faith and pursuing a domestic infant adoption.
Since starting the process we have felt God continue to tell us to put fear aside and nudge us in the right direction. We are excited, scared, and must say it is the emotional roller coaster everyone says it is. But we are standing on His promises and trusting, “Living a life of faith means never knowing where you are being led — but it does mean loving and knowing the One who is leading. It is literally a life of FAITH, not of understanding and reason- a life of knowing Him who calls us to go.” -Oswald Chambers
We can’t wait to meet the little one that will be a part of our family. It is an incredibly humbling place to be as we wait with open hearts and hands to see what The Lord has for our family. Thank you for your prayers and support!
